Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) headed into the Indian Premier League 2019 Player auction looking to strengthen their middle order and the all-rounders' department. RCB made full use of the available purse of Rs 18.5 crore and bought some good players in the form of West Indies explosive batsman Shimron Hetmyer and uncapped all-rounder Shivam Dube, both of whom were predicted to bag big amounts in the auction.
Ahead of the IPL 2019 auctions, RCB had released the likes of Chris Woakes, Sarfraz Khan, Brendon McCullum, Corey Anderson, and Quinton de Kock. Mandeep Singh was traded for Marcus Stoinis with Kings XI Punjab. RCB improved their squad massively by addressing the concerned areas that they had strategized.
Hetmyer had heavily impressed during India vs West Indies ODI series, earlier this year. He finished the series with a brilliant 240 runs under his belt and a strike rate of 140. He won many fans in India with his sublime power-hitting and was expected to be a hot favourite in the auctions. It turned out true and Hetmyer was bagged for a whopping Rs 4.20 crore by RCB.
Another layer on whom RCB dished out big money on was uncapped all-rounder Dube, who was bought for Rs 5 crore. RCB also purchased the services of South African batsman Heinrich Klaasen along with some domestic players like Milind Kumar, Himmat Singh, Prayas Barman, and Akshdeep Nath.
While their pace attack will be spearheaded by the experienced Tim Southee with Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj playing support, the spin attack will be led by Yuzvendra Chahal. Here's how RCB's squad looks like for the Indian Premier League 2019.
